Cozy season is almost here and as your resident comfort enthusiast, I’m inviting you into the small, comforting rituals that make it my favorite time of year.
This week, I’ve been thinking about all the little comforts that I return to time and time again. Not the big, life-changing things, but the small and steady ones—the cozy, familiar threads that remind me to slow down and soak in joy right where I am.
So, today I thought I’d share a few of mine with you! I hope it will inspire you to make your own “comfort list.” So put on your coziest outfit, grab your favorite drink, and snuggle in – it’s about to get so good!
CATEGORY ONE
Fragrance
The smell of fresh-baked…anything. Baking and spending time in the kitchen is one of my love languages, and is usually a sign of a cozy activity ahead.
However, on the days that I don’t have something baking, I love to reach for my favorite candles.
CATEGORY TWO
Show
The one I’ve watched over and over again—The Great British Bake Off, or most recently, With Love, Meghan.
(You can find both on Netflix!)
CATEGORY THREE
Movies
Here are just a few of my favorites (it was so hard to choose!): The Parent Trap, 13 Going on 30, The Princess Diaries, You’ve Got Mail, and She’s the Man.
CATEGORY FOUR
Book
A well-loved story that feels like visiting an old friend—The Mysterious Benedict Society, or any of the books in the Emily Wilde series.
CATEGORY FIVE
Podcast
A Beautiful Mess Podcast–episode #260 was the inspiration for this email and is my current favorite!
But, I can’t forget about That’s The Point Podcast and Love To Sew, which are also so cozy and at the top of my list.
CATEGORY SIX
Activity
Movie days snuggled on the couch with a cozy blanket, a mug of hot chocolate, and nowhere to be. Or a board game day with my family (:
Our family loves classic games like Life and Clue, but we’ve also found some new favorites like 13 Dead End Drive and Pandemic.
CATEGORY SEVEN
Drink
A mug of homemade hot chocolate.
We’ve been loving this recipe from The Simple Homeplace. However, there are a few new ones on my list for this upcoming cozy season:
CATEGORY EIGHT
Recipe
The dish I always come back to—mostaccioli or lasagna soup. But, I’m thinking homemade cinnamon rolls may make the list this season.
We also love this One Skillet Lasagna for a simple weeknight meal!
CATEGORY NINE
Clothing
Do pj’s count?
I’m on a mission to sew my own pajamas for fall and winter! As soon as cozy season settles in, you can bet you’ll find me behind my sewing machine with a Hallmark movie playing in the background.
CATEGORY TEN
Ritual
Starting every morning and ending every day, snuggled in bed reading with the windows open (weather permitting, of course).
I’m currently reading The Spellshop by Sarah Beth Durst and it is sooooo cozy. I highly reccomend (:
CATEGORY ELEVEN
Travel Spot
Our family home in Northern Michigan…though I’ve always thought that a cabin somewhere with a beautiful fireplace would also be the perfect comfort spot.
My Pinterest is currently filled with cozy destinations in Vermont and Maine, so maybe that will be next on the list!
CATEGORY TWELVE
Season
I find so many moments of comfort in every season, which makes it nearly impossible to pick a favorite. Think crisp autumn days, the first snowfall, warm summer nights with the windows open, rainy afternoons spent baking…but Christmastime just might be the ultimate cozy season.
Stay tuned for my Fall and Winter Bucket Lists…coming so soon!
Next, let’s chat about your comfort list.
xoxo,
Marissa
